Juvenile Justice Series: Global Perspectives on Justice for Children and their Rights

April 5, 2017

Conference Juvenile Justice Series: Global Perspectives on Justice for Children and their Rights April 5, 2017 / Cambridge, MA

On April 5, 2017, the IGLP co-sponsored a conference, Juvenile Justice Series: Global Perspectives on Justice for Children and their Rights. Led by Professor Jacqueline Bhabha. Organized by Child & Youth Advocates.

Justice for children in many parts of the world is fragile, with low minimum ages of criminal responsibility, insufficient child-sensitive measures for children who come into contact with the law, and largely punitive rather than rehabilitative approaches to justice. Many countries lack a comprehensive juvenile justice system, and data is not readily available, which will soon hopefully be supplemented by the Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty that is finally underway. Join Professor Jacqueline Bhabha to hear about the current status and trends of justice for children in relation to the frameworks and practices that exist to protect children and their rights.
