What Lawyers Must Know about Litigation & Public Affairs Communications in the Global Marketplace
October 13, 2011
Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 12:00 PM in Hauser 105
Today, more than ever, successful lawyers are those who help their clients effectively navigate complex issues outside the traditional sphere of the law. What do you do when reporters start calling? How do you use digital media to protect or advance your client’s interests? How do you respond to a crisis that reaches far beyond the court or boardroom? How do you handle the call from a head of state? How is representing a country different from representing a company or other entity?
On October 13th in Hauser 105 the Institute for Global Law and Policy hosted Richard Levick, Esq. President & CEO of Levick Strategic Communications, who offered a talk which explored what lawyers need to know about the role that effective communications strategies play in the highest-profile cases that lawyers handle. Mr. Levick’s talk drew on powerful case studies – including the Emirates, the Guantanamo detainee controversy, and the largest antitrust penalty ever sought by the U.S. government – to underscore the problems and solutions facing all players in the global marketplace.
