The New Lombard Street: How the Fed Became the Dealer of Last Resort

Please join the IGLP and the Workshop on the Political Economy of Modern Capitalism for our first speaker of the fall semester, Professor Perry Mehrling, as he presents a talk based on his forthcoming book The New Lombard Street: How the Fed Became the Dealer of Last Resort. The talk will be held Monday, October 18, 2010, from 4 – 6:00pm in Lower Library, Robinson Hall on the Harvard University Main Campus. Roy Kreitner, (Professor of Law, Faculty of Law, Tel Aviv University and Lillian Gollay Knafel Fellow of Legal History at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study) and Nadav Peer (LLM Candidate at Harvard Law School) will be the discussants for this event.

Professor Mehling, who is a professor of economics and economic history at Barnard College, has been doing innovative work modeling the forms of liquidity that helped to create the financial crisis of 2008. This semester he is teaching Money and Banking at Boston University. For this event participants should read the introduction and chapter one of Professor Mehrling’s new book, which is forthcoming from Princeton University Press.
