Book Launch — Governing the Terrain Called Beauty: The Queerness of Political Economy in Cuba and the United States.
October 21 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Please join Northeastern University School of Law’s Center for Global Law and Justice and the Institute for Global Law and Policy to celebrate the publication of Professor Libby Adler’s new book, Governing the Terrain Called Beauty: The Queerness of Political Economy in Cuba and the United States.
Drawing on comparative legal analysis, queer theory, political economy, and interviews, the book traces the intertwined histories of LGBTQ identity and law in Cuba and the United States, from the early twentieth century through the legalization of same-sex marriage. Professor Adler examines how law, national ideology, economic conditions, race, and lived experience shape both identity and legal change.
