DESCRIPTION:The Graduate Institute Geneva and the Institute for Global Law & Policy at Harvard Law School began a new collaborative initiative: The Global Scholars Academy. The three-day intensive scholars Workshop took place in Geneva\, Switzerland from January 5-8\, 2020. \nThe Global Scholars Academy is an intensive residential experience designed to enable junior faculty and post- doctoral scholars to engage in sustained\, interdisciplinary\, peer-to-peer collaboration under the close mentorship of research faculty drawn from the world’s top universities. The Academy is open by application to advanced junior scholars working to understand and map the levers of political\, economic\, and legal authority in the world today. We particularly welcome applications from scholars from the Global South and those working on policy challenges of concern to communities in the Global South.

We put together three working groups respectively engaging with political\, economic\, and social dimensions. Each group developed an open conversation on specific questions related to their focus.

SUMMARY:Idea Lab
DESCRIPTION:During the Spring 2019\, the Fellows started a semester-long “sister” initiative of the writing group\, called Idea Lab. The desirability of this exercise derives from the observation of one common problem: part of the struggle with writing is that we often work out ideas while writing. The Idea Lab aims at offering an opportunity to participants to test out\, unravel\, and better elaborate their ideas before putting them down on paper. It is an occasion for brainstorming\, refining ideas and concepts\, and find the best format for their formalisation. Ideally\, the exercise will allow to situate one’s idea into a workable frame.
