The IGLP Asian Regional Workshop

The Institute for Global Law and Policy (IGLP) at Harvard Law School is pleased to collaborate with the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) to bring its world-renowned Regional Workshop to Bangkok, Thailand from January 6-11, 2017.

The IGLP Asian Regional Workshop brings together young scholars of law and policy from around the world for intensive peer-to-peer mentoring with faculty from some of the world’s leading universities. It aims to strengthen the next generation of scholars by placing them in collaboration with their global peers and introducing them to cutting edge research across a variety of disciplines. The week features a stimulating series of writing workshops, roundtable discussions, lectures, and intensive courses on topics such as human rights, global finance, development, and regulation.

Participants were selected through a rigorous global admissions process from a pool of 300 international applicants. The result is a talented group of 56 participants from 35 countries and 42 institutions who will work alongside 46 IGLP faculty members from 21 countries and 36 universities.

“I am delighted to be able to join hands with our friends at the Thailand Institute of Justice to bring this exciting program to Bangkok,” said David Kennedy, Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the IGLP. “We have an intense week of peer-to-peer mentoring and debate ahead of us.”

TIJ Workshop for Emerging Leaders

In addition to the Regional Workshop, the IGLP is collaborating on the concurrent TIJ Workshop for Emerging Leaders and the TIJ Forum on the Rule of Law and Sustainable Development.

The TIJ Workshop for Emerging Leaders offers a unique opportunity for 45 young leaders and practitioners from different sectors to engage with their global peers in policy dialogue. This intensive program seeks to shed light on the complex and dynamic linkages between the rule of law and policy making processes at local, regional and international levels. The curriculum features coursework on criminal justice reform, good governance, inequality, and science and sustainability studies.

The week-long Workshop will culminate with the TIJ Forum on the Rule of Law and Sustainable Development, a public event that will focus on efforts to mainstream the rule of law into the public administration in Thailand, with a special focus on the role of criminal justice reform in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
