Law_Art_Middle_EastOn May 3, 2013 Brown University hosted an inaugural event for the Santander-IGLP project “Law and the Arts in the Middle East Today”.

This collaborative research project seeks to map the doctrinal arrangements, institutional structures and market practices governing “Law and the Arts” in the Middle East today with focus on the legal systems of Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, and Iran, including comparative references to select East Asian, American and European jurisdictions, along with public international law and international economic and trade law.

The workshop at Brown University titled “Law, Art and Revolution in the Middle East” opened with remarks by IGLP Academic Council members Amr Shalakany, Principle Investigator (American University in Cairo, Egypt) and Chantal Thomas (Cornell University, Ithaca, New York).
